My First Official Post-Christmas Post

Well I hope all have had a very merry Christmas! I just wanted to post a quick picture of some of my favorite gifts I've been given.

On the far left in this picture are Chinese health balls, I believe the technical name is Baoding Balls. They have these very soothing bells in each of them (one bell makes a higher pitched sound than the other) and the goal of them is to keep them from touching each other, and then when you have that mastered, you go in the opposite direction.

In the center we have something that is a little more old-school and I love it so. I was given, albeit offhandedly, a "Personal Portable Recorder and Cassette Player." The mothership was nice enough to buy me some cassettes I could record on and then I went to town. Being a teenager lucky enough to be born into the digital age, I am use to such quick and easy click, clicking to get to the music I want, so having given such an object that does not allow that has given me a greater respect for my parents who had to go through the 9track and the cassette phase.

Lastly on the far right we have a pen-sword that makes a little "shing!" sound when you click it, and my stupid phone, as me and my friends so lovingly call it, just so happened to be in the picture.

Can't wait to post New Year photos!

Just a couple old Projects

Here's an owl I made a while back for a friends birthday:

Here is a seal I made for a different friends birthday (I used a bigger hook than recommended, learned my lesson):

This is his tail and his little fins on the side

And some more pokeball photos:

Crochet: Level Pokemon

So my sister's birthday was yesterday and I felt like making a scarf, so I decided to take a pin from Pinterest and make a Pokeball scarf.

This is my sister proudly holding the scarf I made. I also made a tiny addition to the pattern by adding on a row of hdc in the red and white yarn color to make the scarf wider. Also made no button because I thought it added a little to much.

Blood

So today I donated my blood to the American Red Cross, at a blood drive done at my school. They called us out one by one out of our non-core classes (classes that are not science, math, English, or social studies) and we got to read a little packet over what we need to know, and then some questions were asked (have you ever had malaria? traveled out of the U.S. or Canada? ect.) and then hooked up to the blood drawing machine.
I had some complications since it was my first time, but overall I was pleased with the kind service from all the faculty there.

Look, I Cleaned My Room!

So I set  a goal for today and that goal was to vacuum my room. Which, as I'm happy to report, has been accomplished.
PiCTUREsssss:
All of  the floor objects stack on my bed. The sight of progress.

Look at all that floor.
Any way that's all I really wanted to say.

Life Update

So, I'm a Junior. It's fun so far. I'm pretty sure school will just cut up all my free time (I'm in marching band and have 3 AP classes) so I might not have that many post coming up, but I do have a photography class and I am hoping that I will be able to learn how to make this blog prettier. I also hope to post pretty pictures.

Quote I like:
"How others see you is not important. How you see yourself means everything."

I like this quote because it tells those with low self esteem, that you are the only one that has the right to have an opinion about you. Your peers or bully's have never walked in your body, heard your thoughts, or lived a day in the life of you. If you feel happy wearing your comfy jeans every Tuesday, do it!! IF you one prone to dresses, even though you think your size is to big, screw it, do it anyway. See yourself as the amazing person you are and be humble enough not to come off like a douche.

Well, that's all folks!

Crochet: Level Baby

Twas a late night project, on the eve of a baby's birth that I found this glorious pattern. You honestly cannot fathom how much I love this pattern. The stitch used is so simple yet it turns out so elegantly. I have already made another one for one of my church friends, (this one with a purple boarder) but alas, I was to lazy to take a picture. I am in the process of making another one for my own enjoyment but as I started another project, I had to put my third baby blanket down.
I used one pound Caron yarn, and was able to make two blankets with the white as the main color, one with the blue border you see above, the other with a Red Heart Super Saver Purple yarn. My third blanket is going to have the blue yarn seen above as the main color with a yet to be decided boarder. Pictures Later!!
Happy Yarning!!

Crochet: Level Royalty

^^^ Pattern Found Here ^^^

Yet again, this product is something I made for a friend. She had a project in school which required her to make a castle and she begged me to make one. Or she may have twisted my arm, can't remember which. But I love how it turned out and the pattern is pretty easy to read. Happy Cocheting!!

Crochet: What the Pattern Looks Like vs. What I Made It Look Like

Once upon a time, me and my fellow crocheter were having a sleepless sleep over. We decided to crochet a lovely tea cup from a lovely pattern found on the great Pinterest. (pattern found here)

What the Pattern Looks Like:

What I Made It Look Like:

A huge, hot mess. I admit, I probably should have used a smaller hook, and smaller yarn but still!! This is an example folks, of follow your pattern to the letter; because when you don't, you result is less than desirable.

Crochet: Level Pokemon

Gotta Catch 'em All!!! As I have grow up in the Pokemon generation, I felt it my duty to crochet some Pokemon memorabilia. It was as a gift to my sister when I made these. Now as you will notice, my pokeballs and the pokeballs in the pattern look different, because I used continuous rounds whilst the original pattern uses joined round. And for good reason too! When you get to the part in the pattern where, you switch from white yarn, to black yarn, the to the other color yarn (red for example for the pokeball in the middle of the picture), continuous rounds create this horrible jagged edge (which I covered with the button of the pokeball) while the intended joined rounds in the original pattern fix that problem.
All credit to the original pattern maker and my skilled yarn hands.

Crochet: Level Ood

Isn't the internet beautiful? I have been converted to Doctor Who for a while now, thanks to my lovely whovian friends. I thought this guy was adorable and I absolutely adored this pattern, which was super easy to follow, and made this for one of my whovian friends as a early birthday present. Sharing your crochet powers with others is the best way to spread love, so what are you waiting for?! Go make one of these!! (seriously, the one I made took me under like 2 hours.)

Project Fly Away

Making 1000 Origami Cranes... Single-handedly

Yes, although I may not be from Asia, I have decided to take part in the lovely tradition of making a thousand origami cranes in hope for good fortune. According to legend (and my good friend Wikipedia) , when you make a 1000 cranes, a crane will come to grant you a wish. My wish? Well, thats for me to know, and you to find out.

So far, I've made only 105. Why did I stop? To put it bluntly I stopped because I'm lazy. No excuses found here, folks. What I thought I would do is for every page view, I'd make another origami crane. Granted I probrably won't be making very many anytime soon, but a girl can dream. :)

I encourage you to at least try and make one origami crane. (Here's a video) It's pretty simple, to those that follow instructions easily. It'll make you feel crafty and you can show all your friends your new talent. Or if you don't have any friends, you can show random strangers this new talent.

HELLO

Hello Strangers!!

Congratulations on finding my blog! I am new to blogger and will probably stumble and fall, but I will do my best to keep a steady post record. I plan to make this a crochet blog with some random tidbits of information I find that I think you should know.

So, let's get this show on the road! After a lunch break, that is.
